Rain slides down the window pane
Reminiscent of a waterfall
Cascading down the mountain side
Gathering below
Into a crystal lake
Inviting you in

The Weatherman

We’re in for a big one
The weatherman said
So we rush to the store
For milk, eggs and bread

He tells us how much
We all can expect
The East coast’s been battered
Mother Nature’s neglect

He charts and he studies
And strings us along
No matter how hard
He still gets it wrong

We open the door
And brace for the worst
And get hit in the face
With a cold sunny burst

We sigh in the doorway
And peel off the layers
And curse at the weatherman
The sly purveyor

Yet night after night
The forecast is given
Will this one be right?
As we sit and we listen

For the upcoming day
The radar is zooming
And the weatherman prays
After all he’s just human

The Human Grid

Society is like a crossword grid
Each part of a life carefully fitting
Inside its own square
The ups intersecting with the downs
Attempting to invade a space
Meant for something else
Passageways blocked
Indicating an end
Hoping the clues will give meaning
To the numbered journal
Whose evidence cannot be so easily erased

Raindrops fall
between barren branches
left stark by Winter’s touch

A cloudburst
feeds the crocus
awakening from its icy slumber

A hint of color
returns to the earth
with the promise of Spring

lyscurtainA fiery essence, her flame draws you in
igniting your heart and soul
with a heat like no other

A ball of energy, reaching out
so much so that you cannot resist
the connection she feeds you

Powerful, yet so gentle
she gives and gives and
asks for nothing in return

A bright entity, she is a presence
above the norm, above the measure,
she is beloved by many

She is a star, shining so brightly
even darkness cannot dim her sparkle
She is my Sunshine
