Deep within, we may be petrified to learn

How others perceive us, in their own eyes

But, you know your worth, don’t let it concern

Remember who you are, and don’t apologize

I used to be her favorite dream

A nightmare now, is what I seem

She dare not open up her eyes

For I am one who petrifies

The small one, when she falls asleep

I’ll wait, until she slumbers deep

Then frighten her, awake, she’ll cry

I’ve never really understood why

I used to think she cared for me

Now, she’s just plain scared of me
