Wrapped inside a hardened shell

An iridescent gem does dwell

Hidden deep, beneath the sea

Yet, not much larger than a pea

Begins, when oysters take offense

Triggering layers, of self defense

Fighting, to make its bed just right

As such, creates this luminous sight

Which sets a woman’s heart awhirl

Ah, the beauty, of a cultured pearl

Asleep in the bed of an oyster’s chateau

The jewel of the ocean in illuminating glow

Pink against white against gray, simply grand

Mother of Pearl holds the sea in her hand

Dreams of the beautiful treasure she’ll grow

With one grain of sand and the waters below

Lined with nacre, layer upon layer

Mother of Pearl, iridescent purveyor

In an oyster’s shell

Where round pearls of pink grow strong

There is always hope
