Cross over the bridge, into the mist
The forest air says hello, with a kiss
Refreshing, the aura, on the other side
That sense of perfection, you cannot deny
The pleasure you find, when you journey beyond
To frolic within, such a rare phenomenon

I died last night. Much like the wilted petals of an old bouquet of roses, I crumbled. My spirit lingered, then disappeared into the mist, and scattered my soul. Floating in limbo, I reached out, seeking those I remembered, and found myself lost, with those I had long since forgotten.

What lies beyond the forest mist
Comes closer, if you whisper
Your breath, exhale, the frosty dew
As the air becomes much crisper
The path behind you disappears
No footsteps can you follow
Walking through the fog, just you
Staggering, as you wallow
In the stillness that surrounds
Stop now, inhale, and feel it
Winter’s frozen drops abound
In the fog that does conceal it

Through the mists of time,
Spirits gather and recall
Days long forgotten,
Not remembering at all
Shadows upon the river bank,
That no one else can see
Together, they stand,
Blending in,
For all eternity
If you look closely enough, you’ll see them lined up along the river…. or do you?
