Midnight
Darkest hour
No light

Day gone
Fades into black
Moves on

Moon shows
Chases the gloom
And glows

Author’s Note: The Musette, created by Emily Romano is a poem that consists of three verses of three lines each. The first lines have two syllables; the second lines have four syllables, and the third lines have two syllables. The rhyme scheme is a/b/a for the first verse; c/d/c for the second verse, and e/f/e for the third verse. The title should reflect the poem’s content.

I really needed to get up, and out of bed

But my alarm clock just kept ringing, instead

Seems I stayed up too late, with the crickets

Then got caught in a speed trap, ugh! A ticket!

I’m always like this, so this day was the same

Got to work, new excuse, the cops are to blame

Made my coffee, then spilled it, don’t you see?

Early mornings are not quite meant for me

Let the day continue, and when it’s time

And midnight approaches, wondrous, sublime

I’m far more comfortable, as one with the night

Letting the moon, in the dark, be my light

All Hallows eve, the night closes in

Fantastical beasts return on a whim

Waiting and watching, the chill, we suspected

But shadows grow longer, and quite unexpected

The moon shines a glow, but it’s still not enough

To keep them from coming, though we try to rebuff

Witches and warlocks fly through the air

Skeletons rattle about without care

The living dead walk aimlessly in the dark

Ghosts and ghouls gather round in the park

All watching the clock, for the midnight hour

Impatiently waiting for what they will devour

Friday Fantasy ~ Pondering – #poetry of #life

There shines a light, from yonder island

Drawing them nearer, below the highland

Earth glides near, white birds flying

No chance to make it there, though trying

To bring their boat, across the sea

They’re looking for land, with urgency

Could this beacon guide them straight?

Perhaps, alas, it is their fate

To sail on, pondering, before sun does rise

Til then, they’ll float, under midnight skies

Midnight light, chases darkness

Quells the deepest fears
