There is no length, for which I write
I stop when everything feels right
It may only be a verse, of three small lines
Or perhaps I will stretch it, to seven or nine
But when the words fall into place, you see
The poem I’ve created, is really for me

I have never known
where to draw the line
my fantasies, bleed out
from the end of a pencil
onto blank pages
where thoughts spill
without ink, splotches
of words, erased, replaced
then smeared again
by the brush of my hand
or is it my vision, blurring
the existing lines, a verse
left unattended because
I have fallen asleep
into yet another dream

I want to draw you
Memorize the contours of your face
Sketch the intricate lines of your eyes
Your nose, your mouth, that jawline
That draws me in, every time I’m near you
I want to erase the worry,
And replace the doubt
With the delicate strokes of my hands
