Ice, the color of ebony night

She spins her crystals into light

Droplets cast an unearthly glow

Falling gently, down below

Magical, bright, o’er the land

Illusion created by the touch of her hand

When winter snow is heavy

Upon the fronds

And ice covers over

The rippling ponds

She weeps for the warmth

Once brought with the breeze

That allowed her dance

As graceful as leaves

That fell from the oaks

And surrounded her grace

Now covered in white

Like a veil ‘cross her face

It’s hidden her beauty

Each time, through the years

Under canopies, weeping

Her icicle tears

When Petals Fall

Petals fall in flakes of white

Winter calls, this frosted night

Whipping winds against the pane

Crystals form a frosty mane

Upon the glass that yields the cold

Yet, I shiver as the day grows old

Is it the day or is it me

Who ages like the barren tree

That shivers in the frosted night

When petals fall in flakes of white

Frozen shards hang

Reflective prisms

Sparkling in sunlight’s glow

Blocking escape

Like bars on a cell

The color of silver clouded skies
Draws the darkness to my eyes
Brilliance shadowed in puffs of gray
No longer offering light of day
Frozen water from up above
Chilling haze indicative of
Winter’s linger across this place
With frozen kisses upon my face
White enshrouds what cannot bestow
Touched by gently falling snow
Pales the colors once so grand
Now faint upon the ground they stand
Bowing to the shivering wind
Once resplendent fades to dim
