Night turns to day
And day into night
Trying hard to hold on
With all of my might

A rope burns my hand
And I’m starting to slip
Sweat from my palms
Makes it harder to grip

The reality of all
I have fought to forget
Though darkness creeps in
There’s no time for regret

Trying hard to hold on
With all of my might
Yet, I’m slipping away
I’m not able to fight

The demons that kept me
And haunted my soul
I’ve lost who I am
Evil’s taken its toll

Winds do howl, through bars of pain

Unlock the demons, pour the rain

Scatter them, about the ground

Unleash the haunted, perilous sound

As water sears their ashen skin

No safe haven, can they hide in

Tears them up, into small bits

Ravaged souls, into the pits

Where once they were the gentle sages

Now just evil, released from cages

Good morning!  I’d like to share the synopsis of a novel I’m working on, titled “Devil’s Pond“.  I hope it leaves you wanting more 🙂

magma_by_dukie523a
They were inseparable. Five young friends whose sense of adventure usually got them into trouble. This time was no different. Venturing out into what would turn out to be a stormy night, they headed for an area they were told was off limits. The sand lot was a forbidden place, a place no one spoke of, where no one dared step foot on, until now. Intrigue ruled out over warnings and a game of hide and seek commenced. Until one remained hidden.

As the storm bears down on them, they run, frightened for themselves and their missing friend. Not caring about the consequences that would await them, they quickly gather their parents to explain. But something is wrong. Baffled, the children wonder why Father Tom is the one to arrive first. Why isn’t anyone calling the police? How will their friend ever be found? And what price will they pay for getting too close to Devil’s Pond?

In my hand I have a box
Come closer and you’ll see
Don’t open it or look inside
Lest it cause you misery

I’ve traveled very far and wide
Through all I could withstand
Now, time is slipping quickly by
So, hurry, take my hand

For inside this tiny package
There’s a treasure full of sin
Fear, and greed, evil deeds
All lie in here, within

The distant train approaching
Is filled with his villainous clan
I beg of thee, just let it be
Don’t fuel the Devil’s plan

Don’t let the sinister voices
Wreak havoc in your head
Think of me, and all to be
Of joy and love, instead

The key that unlocks secrets
Kept hidden deep inside
Is tied to me, around my waist
I keep it there, beside

Will you open up the box?
I think you will, I fear
I’ll give you the key,
If you promise me
All hope will not disappear

There are always two sides to every being

If you look closely, I’m sure you will see

Behind this pretty little face of mine

Hides a plethora of mystery

The light side bright, in golden hues

Reflecting a heavenly shine

It’s the side that I show you

Smiling, when I’m feeling kind

The darker side doesn’t shine at all

For it clearly does define

The side of me, you won’t care to see

So, I keep it, all as mine
