Shaded skies

Hints of night

Approaching

Darkness surrounds

Billowing white

Encroaching

Shattering sun

This ebony sight

Overpowering

Darkness envelops

Engulfing the light

Devouring

Before I Slip Away

Do you hear me when I cry
Feel the teardrops as they fall
Can you hear my trembling sigh
When I feel so very small

Do you see the pain inside
Can you calm the fear
Do you see what I can’t hide
Please, make the darkness disappear

Will you hold me in your arms
Comfort me at night
Will you quiet all my qualms
And chase away the fright

Hear me, see me, hold me close
Don’t let me go astray
Just be my painless antidote
Before I slip away

If I Make a Wish

#poetry, autumn, dark, dorindaduclos.com, fantasy, night, Night Owl Poetry, poems, trees, whispers

If I make a wish
To chase the dark away
Will you hear my whisper
In the boughs that sway

From the autumn winds
That whip and stray
As they whisper back
In a sullen way

“That night has fallen
To skies of gray
We will have to wait
For return of day….”

Slumber’s Gentle Night

When light begins to shine

And darkened skies diminish

I find you still, fast asleep

Thoughts and dreams unfinished

A subtle smile upon your face

To tell me you’re all right

With what awaits once you awake

From slumber’s gentle night

Chilled with the Night Sky

Outside
Chilled with
The Night Sky
No Heavenly Light
To Illuminate the Dark
Only gray Clouds
Covering Ebony

A Doe grazes
Gently lifting her head
Inquiring why I
Should be Standing
Uncloaked
In the Bitter Cold

Wisps of Breath
Paint the Air
With Thoughts
Unknown
Outside
Chilled
With the Night Sky
