I could stay up for hours
Continue to write
But the candlelight dims
Above the pages, once white
Welcoming darkness, shadows in the room
Tell me it’s time
To put down my plume
Let the ink dry
In the still of the night
Til once again I return
With morning’s fire light

Shadows wake in dark of night
Storm clouds carry on, in flight
I long to feel the winds that blow
Allowing my spirit to overflow
With thunder claps and lightning flashes
The beauty of the storm surpasses
What I could only dream to be
A tempest, flowing wild and free
