Do not rush through life

Take it slowly, step by step

To reach journey’s end

Where My Life will End ~ #poetry #freeverse

There was a time

when the words

flowed like a waterfall,

an endless cascade

of letters, gathering

together like waves

in the ocean, crashing

down in a sigh, then

slipping away once again.

This is where my life will end,

like the bottom of a riverbed,

dried up, seared by the heat

of the daytime star, scarred

where words no longer

can bleed brittle memories,

merely to fall away,

an invisible page

The night that covets salacious dreams

Begs to elicit forbidden scenes

Uncovers the mask of Jezebel ways

Red against pale, in splendid array

You’ll revel in the beauty of emerald eyes

As she lures you to her with an innocent guise

Radiating heat, like a ruby afire

She will never unveil her lubricious desire

Still, she’ll capture your soul with subtle deception

While using her body with wicked intention

Under Cover of the Night ~ #poetry

She keeps her face out of sight

Well hidden, beneath the hat

She has no wish, to be seen

No time for idle chat

Darting in and out of shadows

Dodging fluorescent lights

She’s a woman on a mission

Under cover of the night

Seeking out his lover

The one who’s tucked away

Knowing where to find them

She does, much to his dismay

Reaching for the pistol

Kept underneath her coat

She fires the shot, into his heart

For this poison, no antidote
