In Loving Memory of John Freda 1968-2020

You left
Before I
Could say goodbye
I sit
And can’t help
But wonder why

You were taken
So soon
From us, away
Though
In our hearts
You’ll forever stay

I loved
Your kindness
Your gentle soul
But, alas,
Your absence
Will take its toll

On so many,
Who will never know
Your spirit
Or the sound
Of your laughter,
I can still hear it

A man
Who cared
For so many, but he
“Reach out,
I’m here,
If you ever need me”

A phrase
He would say to me,
Again & again
He’d listen,
And comfort,
And never complain

John,
You were truly
A wonderful friend
And
To our Alyssa,
You were a godsend

Now
You’re an angel,
In Heaven above
At peace
With our Lord,
Embraced in His love.

Never got to say goodbye…

Dear friends,

It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you, we have lost a member of the WordPress community, a man who was a very dear friend to me and my family, and who treated my daughter like a sister.  They were movie buddies, among other hobbies.

John Freda passed away this morning from COVID-19.  He was 51 years young.

John has a blog on WP called The Magic Shop.  He truly enjoyed writing and I truly enjoyed our banter back and forth about it.  We kept each other in line, making sure we were writing, even if we didn’t feel like it.  He had been quiet for most of this year, trying to find his way back to putting pen to paper.  He truly enjoyed Fandango’s FOWC, and participated in it frequently.

John was a gentle soul, a man who would give you anything he could.  I am honored to be able to call him my friend, my dear friend.

Please keep his Mom & Dad in your prayers.  Both have the virus.  Mom is on a ventilator, Dad fell and broke his back.  Neither know they have lost their son…

Leaf becomes shelter

When two get caught in the rain

Nature’s umbrella

Nearer the End – #poetry – #NaPoWriMo

I watch the sun set

In a brilliant blaze

Under a sky of stars

I get lost in their haze

Twilight engulfs

My most secret thoughts

As golden rays bury

My mind, distraught

I am captivated

By glorious, rays of light

That take me from morn

Into the night

While I sit here and wonder

What is to be?

When my eyes finally close

What is it I’ll see?

Will my time on this Earth

Be nearer the end?

Or will I still see the light

As thoughts transcend

Higher, like the swing

Which knows no bounds

I fly, for I am no longer

Planted, on the ground

Thirsty for Blood – #poetry – #NaPoWriMo

A silhouette against the sun
The wind takes over sails
As pirates slumber in the night
In hopes, the wind won’t fail

Lest they be forever adrift
In a sea, oft unforgiving
Battering waves, tossed about
Yet, it’s how they go on living

The life they choose, no matter
What others, of them, may think
They’ll stash abundant treasure
As they watch the others sink

Into the deepest oceans
Lost, in a battle of greed
Thirsty for blood, they conquer
No matter how much you plead

They take it all, there’s nothing left
Your ship, lay barren and wasted
And you cling to life, but lose the fight
Your own blood, you now have tasted
