#writephoto – Circle – #shortstory

As I walked through the forest on this somewhat dreary, gray day, I stumbled upon six stones forming a circle. The largest stone looked more like an altar. I imagined many a chanted prayer was spoken here. You could feel the vibrations emanating from them. The surrounding area was very quiet. Not even the wind spoke in this sacred place. I walked around to each stone, hoping to find some clue as to who this circle belonged to. I touched the first stone, and every stone thereafter, until I got to the large one. I pondered, should I touch it? Would I be disturbing its spiritual meaning?

I stood, backing away, more toward the middle of the circle, and closed my eyes. Each stone sang to me, a lyric I had not heard before. Each song different from the other, I found myself lost in the bewitching melodies. Were the stones speaking to me, the ancient spirits who dwell here, letting me know I was welcome?

With an overwhelming joy, I held my hand to my heart, felt the wisdom of each stone, felt the peace of the altar, and the most powerful feeling of all, being accepted into a circle of love I had never known before.

Why bother to swim, when I can hitch a ride

Hope onto the lily pads, scattered, by the side

Bask in the warming sunlight, dry off, and relax

Then jump onto another one, and let it take me back

Float among the flora, munch on all the weeds

Happy just to be a frog, living among the reeds

Beyond the archway, across the rocks

Where mist does linger and flowers flock

A climb, thousands of miles to the top

The mountains create a beautiful backdrop

Snow covered, white, against the bluest sky

I journey to my cathedral, in the heavens, high

My worldly place, an earthen sanctuary

Where I can go to, beyond the contrary

Of inhumane faces, and misguided beings

A place I know my God, is ever so freeing

Lavender Lipstick ~ #poetry #AugustWriting

She painted her lips, in a lavender hue

Promised to look her best, for she knew

The color she chose, would say it all

As she waited so patiently, for him to call

Large sterling hoops, dangled from her ears

Soft shades for her eyes, to lessen the years

A perfect head of curls that framed her face

She wanted to impress, with style and grace

Quietly, she waited, but the call never came

Realizing now, things were always the same

Decided to show him, just what he was missing

With lavender lips, it wasn’t he, she’d be kissing
