Breathe life into me, and take my breath away
Let me feel your essence, deep into my soul
Touch my body with a longing, a needing, impure
Entrance me with your ever enticing allure
Ignite me with a passion, heated in the night
Set the fires burning, with the flicker of candle light
Breathe life into me, with words you cannot say
Let me feel your essence, make my body whole

There are always two sides to every being
If you look closely, I’m sure you will see
Behind this pretty little face of mine
Hides a plethora of mystery
The light side bright, in golden hues
Reflecting a heavenly shine
It’s the side that I show you
Smiling, when I’m feeling kind
The darker side doesn’t shine at all
For it clearly does define
The side of me, you won’t care to see
So, I keep it, all as mine

Ivy covers your window sill
Reflections linger, ever still
Eyes that shield the sunlit day
Memories that come and stay
Are shadows cast, an eerie face
Reflections linger, in this place
As I look up, no longer smile
Knowing you’ve been gone awhile
You never thought that you belonged
I never tried to prove you wrong
I watched as you let life slip by
I always thought you’d never die
How could I abandon you?
Reflections linger, filled with rue
Now this window, draws me here
Memories, becoming clear
My world will never be the same
Reflections linger, along with blame

It’s that time of year again, Summer!! I’ll be taking weekends off, starting today, through Labor Day Weekend. It gives me time to refuel and spend some much needed down time with the hubby! I hope you’ll still come to visit, even though I won’t be home.. but the door is always open at Night Owl Poetry. 🙂
Enjoy your weekends, folks! Life’s too short to let them pass you by ❤
