If I were a color, could you imagine what I’d be?

The yellow of the sun, or deep blue, like the sea

Orange, like a marigold, or just plain lily white

I have to find the color that fits me, just right

Perhaps I am purple, shades of light and dark

Perhaps I am red, set the sizzle, light the spark

Green, the cool of summer grass, between my toes

So many different choices, tell me, do you know?

Or maybe I am, merely black, like the pitch of night

Tis where I often find myself, always when I write

I think today, I shall be, all the colors I can find

Lost forever, happily, in the rainbow of my mind

Prompt: What color do you feel like today?

A sinking sun sets the mood, o’er the mountains

The last bell chimes, and silence fills the lands

Peacefulness reigns, with the dimming light

Which cast its shadows, across the sands

A haze falls over the country, like a slumber

Not even the chirp of crickets can be heard

And as night settles in, and day slips away

The colors of the sky, become serenely blurred

She snickered as she ran, until she noticed, behind her

The one thing she’d forgotten, was trying to remind her

It sent bands of colors, wrapped them around the air

She tried to keep running, but knew she shouldn’t dare

She turned, and watched it, slowly hit the ground

With a thunderous thud, that echoed, quite profound

The moon had finally landed, left Earth to float alone

The sun had drifted farther, chilled her to the bone

Darkness filled the sky, no more light did moon shed

Now laid still, upon the soil, the golden orb was dead

Stars flickered and cried, with the night…

…to mourn the parting of the light

Colleen was kind enough to give us the words for this weeks challenge, even though she started her Yule break!  Thank you, Colleen ❤  The words this week are Belief and Joy.  Remember, you can only use synonyms to write your poetry!

Written as a Tanka, my synonyms are Assume and Happiness, followed by Pleasure & Elation.  There are far too many synonyms for joy!!

We should not assume

Happiness is ours alone

But something to share

For to divvy such pleasure

Brings elation to mankind

The staff was in a snit, the head chef had a fit
She baked a batch of muffins, for the queen
Set them on a stool, near a window, just to cool
Now the breads, were nowhere to be seen

Pondered what to do, waited, a minute or two
Hoped to catch this terrible, muffin thief
She realized her spoon, was nowhere in the room
Now, this was going way beyond belief

Set a trap, a deadly fate, hoped they’d take the bait
A half a muffin sat, on the kitchen table
In came Carla May, spoon and muffin, on display
Shocked to see the goods, but where was Mabel?

Much to her surprise, the table began to rise
Scared the daylights, right out of Carla May
She looked around, but didn’t know, where she’d go
So she stood there, didn’t try to get away

The chef approached her prey, had waited for this day
To meet the thief who stole the precious cakes
Carla hit her with the spoon, on that fateful afternoon
Now she’s the chef, and eats whatever she bakes
