Halloween, it’s trick or treat

Does that make it sickly sweet?

Would you prefer a devilish trick?

Or perhaps a marshmallow on a stick

Beware the goblins chasing ghosts

They’ll scare you out of your earthly host

Perhaps it’s better to just stay in

Away from all the spirited din

Remember, keep your doors shut tight

And turn on all the outside lights

Watch for witches, and green-eyed cats

And of course, those skeletons, riding bats

Beware of those who come your way

Unfriendly beings are not sweet today

The Quest ~ #OctoberWriting

It was risky but there was this overwhelming desire to just do it. What if something went wrong? She was being silly. Nothing could go wrong. She made her way through the path, toward the ivy covered towers, and through to the castle doors. Pushing hard against them, she entered the chamber, cautiously looking about, hoping to find nothing or no one that would put a stop to her quest. As she turned again, there he stood. Her heart stopped, as a sinister sneer crept across his face. She encountered the one thing she never gave a second thought. Death.

When children giggle

Frolicking through autumn’s leaves

Joyous sounds echo

Climb aboard, it’s very late

The bus arrives for you

Ghouls are here, to guide your way

And a ghostly quartet, too

Enjoy the ride, it’s cozy inside

Nothing to fear, nor frighten

Zombies make your trip quite nice

While goblins surely delight in

Watching you squirm about your seat

They say the trip is almost done

But the bus keeps going, no end in sight

Boo! This is what they call fun!

There isn’t much you can do

With a can of sardines, or two

It all seems too fishy

These stinkers are squishy

I’d much rather have some beef stew

Yet, somehow they found their way up

Onto the counter, in my measuring cup

I guess I’ll just make them

Into soup, with some bacon

Hold your nose ‘fore you swallow, Pee U
