I am but a face
Haunting, in the hours
When dawn arrives
Christening branches
With golden light
That shines through
My skin, illuminating
The details of a life
Hidden, nestled in
Darkness, breathing
Forests, barren of
Leaves that dangle
Thoughts and dreams
Penetrating souls
Until morning places
Its spirit aside, allowing
Translucent glimmers,
To fade away into
Ebony skies, with me
A specter, awaiting
To frighten the night

I love the dark tones… “a specter awaiting to frighten the night.” My favorite line!

Thank you, Rose! I’m finding my dark side coming out more often than I thought. I’m sure there’ll be more to come π
