Every Sunday, we would meet
At Mama’s, twas the place to be
Good home cooking, what a treat
We were one big happy family

Until the day, Mama changed it up
Served us, in these little black pans
We couldn’t tell what it was for sup
We were all a bit of a baffled clan

We asked and pried, to no avail
She said dig in, and stop yapping
All we wanted was a little detail
Never ate what needed unwrapping

One by one, we all stuck in our forks
Each time we pulled mashies and corn
Seems Mama forgot to add the pork
So there we sat, sad and forlorn

But Mama ate away at her meal
Seems she simply didn’t understand
Her dish was lacking in plate appeal
From the table, we all did disband

Now, maybe you’re thinking shame on her
The woman didn’t feed her poor family well
But Mama knew exactly what she was doing
When the other dinners, into her belly, fell

She juggled her life

Made it fit into the day

Until, she ran out

Felled by wasted distractions

She squandered her existence

Oh, hi there, I wasn’t expecting you

Please excuse me, if you don’t mind

I made my over here, for what, no clue

But, it’s something I hope I can find

Lately, I’m lost, don’t know what to do

I wonder if you’d help me, in kind

Find the thing, blocked from my view

Especially, if I try looking behind

I think I’ve gotten myself into a stew

If I don’t find it soon, I’ll be in a bind

What’s that you say, just buy it new?

Great idea, ah, at last, I can unwind…

…Now, what was it I was looking for?

Mama always warned her girls
They best behave when on a date
But those two had a better idea
Words of wisdom, now too late

Once out the door, and in the car
They’d speed away, into the night
Find a place, they could change
Hit the scene, oh boy, what a sight

No longer were they demure ladies
So sweet, when they left the house
Now they were both quite deviant
One was even missing her blouse!

Come-hither eyes and lollipop grins
The guys were knocked off their feet
That is, until Bessy opened her mouth
Making most fellows, quickly, retreat

Not everything is as good as it looks
Better wait, before you praise and laud
The packaging may look great outside
But, sometimes, the product is flawed

What would your life be like?

If you could only see trees and sky?

Rain puddles, gather in your nose

Upside down tears, that go awry

Eating could also be a real hassle

More in your eyes, and on your face

The hair, on the top of your head

Will always seem to look out of place

I’d imagine that’s how it would be

If we couldn’t get up, off the ground

Much like a statue, carved in stone

It would be pretty hard to get around

All the simpleminded things we do

Are quite small, in total retrospect

Then reality comes, kicks us in the ass

And you realize, it’s a pain in the neck
