I’ve brought a tasty morsel
Thought you deserved a treat
I know it’s been quite awhile
Since you’ve had some to eat

I found this little worm
Hanging freely, from a tree
Grabbed him, as I flew by
It’s dinnertime, you see!

No need to set the table
This is only meant for two
Pretty soon, we’ll have to share
When greeting our new crew!

Ah, Mama Bird, how proud I am
To call this place our home
Here, we’ll raise a family
And never shall we roam

And though the kids will leave us
While I know, it’s for the best
I will stay here, by your side
You and me, in our little nest

The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  On you own blog, you may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  Then link your post to Helene’s original post. (Can be found at the bottom of my poem by clicking on What do you See?)

The delicate pieces of nature
Completing the puzzle of life
Bits torn to create anew
From bland to exquisite
An indistinct worm
Sleeps, awakens
Grace in flight
Flutters
Free

Nothing Makes Sense ~ #poetry #DecemberWriting

Nothing ever made sense
But in his own silly defense
He’d wiggle and pose
Though nobody knows
Exactly why he was so dense

No matter what anyone said
It never got into his head
So he joined a rock band
That played in the sand
Long enough to make him some bread

He became a star on the stage
From morning til night, he’d engage
All the town folk, those women
Whose hearts were abrimmin’
Came running to him, a rampage!

He had no clue, what next he should do
So he begged, “On me please don’t tread!”

Writing Prompt – Vermicious Knids – Day 3/31

For those who don’t know what a Vermicious Knid is : a fictitious creature from the book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl. used to define any undefinable creature that would do any undefinable thing. (Source: Urban Dictionary).  It also pertains to the characteristics of a worm.

I looked in the bottom of the bottle
My stomach began to churn
I looked up and down and all around
But couldn’t find the worm

The tequila was playing tricks
My mind was sort of fuzzy
I know that worm was somewhere near
He doesn’t want me to find him, does he?

I searched across the bar
I crawled along the floor
And still there was no sign of him
Maybe he went out the door

I staggered my way toward the exit
Hoping that’s where he’d be
Then reality hit with a sobering thought
The worm was inside of me

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!
