I can feel the soothing drops of rain

Seeping through the pores of my skin

Washing away the hurt and pain

Cleansing my soul, from deep within

Reaching inside, I drown in my sorrow

Letting it dwell, in a pool of my blood

Wondering, will I see tomorrow?

I open my heart, to let in the flood

That swiftly carries my lifeless limbs

Down a river that has no name

Tis then I realize, my days grow dim

Once again, I’m the one who’s to blame

Rapid Descent ~ #NaPoWriMo #darkpoetry

Frigid waters enveloped her

Lips, like ice, turned blue

Sinking deeper, drowning

Her final breath, she drew

Eyes slightly open, watching

As she descended, rapidly

Ending all she ever knew

Dissolving slowly, in the sea

She took her life, tempestuous

Like a turbulent hurricane

A tortured soul, free at last

She would never again feel pain

It is, by chance, I find me here

Destiny lies in my utmost fear

Down below, the waters thrash

From up above, the falls do crash

Spraying droplets, upon my skin

As I ponder, should I jump in?

To drown in the eddies, that violently swirl

As I throw myself in, with an agonizing hurl

Or shall I sit here, letting the pain escalate?

And live with this, everlasting, twinge of fate?

She found it harder each day, to face the pain

Alone by the window, wondering again

How time could steel her life away

And why the agony she felt each day

Could cause so much hatred, in one woman’s heart

A prolonged destruction, which kept her apart

From the world outside, the place she’d known best

Now no longer a haven, or place she could rest

Instead she sits curled up, dark against light

Hair in her face, obscuring her sight

She no longer wishes to dwell here alone

Unlocking the window, she sends herself home

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  (CDC), in 2015:

  • Suicide was the third leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 14, and the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 15 and 34.
  • There were more than twice as many suicides (44,193) in the United States as there were homicides (17,793).

If you know someone who is struggling with life, reach out, show them you care.  You could be saving their life.

Crinkled Pages ~ #poetry

In the crinkled pages, of an old notebook

I wrote my life story, with all that it took

Parchment discolored, tattered and torn

Of how my life was ended, when yours was reborn

I had kept them so close, afraid to let go

This was just me, though you’d never know

You didn’t remember, once, we were one

All that we had, had been sadly undone

It was then that I realized, how could I be so blind

This fantasy, created, was all in my mind

You never brought roses, nor held me so close

My words on the paper, were mere empty prose

Now the books are frayed, and the roses are dried

Left there, in memory, of the day that I died
