Shadows wake in dark of night
Storm clouds carry on, in flight
I long to feel the winds that blow
Allowing my spirit to overflow
With thunder claps and lightning flashes
The beauty of the storm surpasses
What I could only dream to be
A tempest, flowing wild and free

Hawks over the Pocono Mountains, and an approaching storm. At times there were 5-6 hawks in a group. These two always seemed to stay together.

The sound of thunder
Is the beating of a heart,
A tempest of love

In the pines, far down below
In the coldest winter breeze
We find no shelter from the storm
As it whips through frozen trees
Icy pellets whistle by
Like meteors from space
The old man has awakened
Brushing snow off from his face
He smiles a rather frosty grin
No comfort does he bring
His frigid presence chases away
The warmth to which we cling
He seems to find such pleasure
In coating the lands in white
Exhaling his breath, quite merrily
Throughout the winter’s night

Blue skies overshadowed
with grey puffs, a warning
as the sunlight fades
Clouds burst and thunder claps, as
lightning brightens the darkness
and disappears again
Streets become pools
of unswimmable water,
the current carrying the days travels
down a hollow, rushing endlessly
toward the abyss
Water assaults your face
as you fight your umbrella
and the winds that threaten to take you
in a Mary Poppins kind of way
And then it’s gone, leaving
the air heavy with the scent
of rain….
