Each strand, strung with delicate care

Once done, she sits, and she waits

For dinner, to be delivered to her

Expectantly, laid out, upon her plate

What Lies in Wait ~ #poetry

What lies in wait, ethereal, shimmers

That send chills up and down your spine

Masked by sunlight’s colorful prism

She blends with the tree, so divine

Moving about, in perfect symmetry

Each thread, woven with expertise

A spinneret, is all she requires

As she patiently waits, by the trees

To capture that which she can enjoy

Poor moth, his death is most certain

By the simple thread of a spider’s trap

On his life, she has closed the curtain

She starts with a single thread
Carefully, weaving her loom
Intricate lines connected with ease
For those dropping by, certain doom

Several come calling, about her
None too quickly, do they escape
Caught in the strands of the webbing
She has carefully spun and draped

She has trapped so many before them
Even more know her clutches too well
A spider will always outfox her prey
When she captures them, under her spell

Tangled Webs ~ #OctoberWriting #poetry

Purest white to fool her prey

A woven web of tangles

No matter where you try to stray

She’ll catch you, from all angles

A spider’s charm has consequences

With tricks, all quite alluring

Wraps herself round all your senses

To smother, is her securing

She’ll gather you up in a single thread

Spun from her very own hand

Until you are indeed most dead

Now you’re the dinner she has planned
