I loved this story, Plight of the Night Creatures, by my dear friend, Walt, and was inspired to write a poem based off of his work.  I hope you’ll visit his blog and show him some love!  He’s the best  ❤

The taste of human blood, lingering, ever so sweet

Found roaming the night, in the alley and street

Eyes, ever vacant, asking to be fed

Lost in the darkness, these living dead

A world taken from them, they long to avenge

Dare you not fall asleep, lest they get their revenge!

He walks around, drink in his hand
Jack in his glass, Jill by his side
Likes to make people think he’s the man
Nobody notices, he takes it in stride

Armani tux, bow tie, overdressed
Seems money’s no object, a toy
She wore Versace, no one’s impressed
Still played her part, being coy

A boring affair is never that good
Makes minds start to wander and stare
Across the room, she tipped her glass
Jack smiled, the devil beware

She broke away, to powder her nose
He caught her eye, with a glance
Jill knew something was terribly wrong
He knew, he was taking a chance

Told her he needed another
Left Jill standing there, alone
Watched as he went in another direction
‘Twas then that her heart turned to stone

Tried to secretly meet in the hallway
Too late, they got caught in the act
Jack tried to plead for both of their lives
But Jill didn’t care, that’s a fact

Two shots rang out, she didn’t miss
Their bodies lie dead on the floor
Arrested for murder, gun in her hand
Said she just couldn’t take anymore

Friday Fantasy ~ Malevolence – #poetry

She was cast aside, a child, disgraced

No longer wanted in this place

She swore revenge, they knew not where

She would return, to find them there

Cowering still, in the blackened night

With only the glow from the candlelight

She followed it back, to the place she had left

Finding them sorrowful, sobbing, bereft

Why did they do that? How could they stay?

Surely she’d see them again, one day

Still, she felt no pity for those who had scorned

Malevolence, she had once forewarned

The Bully

He waits impatiently on the corner
for the school bus to arrive
Once on, he sits quietly in the front seat
the one behind the driver
His only solace between the now and
the final destination

The bus stops
and the children run forward
anxious to catch up with their friends
He is the last one off
trembling as he makes his way down the steps
Nothing to shield him from the harsh words
he knows await him through the doors

They call him names, and pull at his clothing
they harass and tease, they torment and hound
while others look on, and laugh and point
and do nothing to stop this persecution

He will not report this to his teachers
for fear of retaliation
He cannot tell his parents
they do not understand it is not a phase
instead, he hides it within

Until the rage builds
and his only option is vengeance
And when he fights back and claims his place
he then becomes the bully.

Tell your children it’s okay to tell a teacher, a parent, a friend, if someone is harassing them or even one of their classmates.  Then take a stand for your own child.  As a mother of a bullied child, I can tell you there is no greater pain.  Don’t sit back and let it go…make a difference.  For more information on stopping bullying, visit http://www.stopbullying.gov/
