Melancholy skies fill, with a tantalizing serum

Showers down, upon the inflorescence of life

Blossoming, as they drink in the sweet nectar

Quenching each thirst, with abundance so rife

The original poem was written in 2014. I have reworked it for this challenge.

So redolent, tis the smell of rain

Where summer heat has parched

Quenches lands across the plain

Ends in colors, sweetly arched

A day like any other, though rain had darkened the sky

The clouds raced at a furious pace, the birds forgot to fly

Leaves came down in small twisters, caught upon the wind

Autumn begins to bid adieu, and the trees feel quite chagrined

The sound of the rain against the window pane, like a constant knocking. Loved ones from above, trying to come in. Let me open the window…

I’m awake at this ungodly hour and it is raining. Usually it lulls me to sleep, but not tonight. Too much on my mind, so I will just lie here and listen. Join me, won’t you?

Tumultuous, the clouds as they sigh,

Gray, like days, they go drifting by

Black, as a moonless, starless night,

Water from my eyes, blurs my sight

Cascading down, perhaps in vain

Are they my tears or just the rain?
