Did you know that October is Poetry Writing Month?  I didn’t!!  I always knew about April being National Poetry Month and I thought that was it.  Apparently, I was wrong.  If you’d like to participate in this event, go to OctPoWriMo, and click on the  Linkup to add your blog.

Those of us who do Michelle’s prompts have it easy.  We’re writing anyway.  Just remember to hashtag your poem #OctPoWriMo, especially if you’re on Twitter, Instagram, etc.   The linkup is open until October 5, 2018.  You can find all the info at the links above.

I hope all poets will participate!  Enjoy!!

Nightfall, ebon sky

She waits, for that one moment

When he, at last, shines

Putrid Plants and Inquisitive Ants – #poetry #SeptemberWriting

When the smell of putrid plants

Calls to those inquisitive ants

We wonder what it is they sense

Or is that they’re just so dense

As not to know the mold they taste

Is really only decayed waste

The humans left outside to rot

That time and weather just forgot

Or is that they’re really smart

And find this fruit, sweet and tart

To satisfy their cravings for

Oh! Food, for winter, they will store

I suppose it could be worse than this

They must find mold, their true bliss

Packed and corded, yellow umbrellas stand tall

No longer unfurled, summer’s welcomed the fall

Lunch tables now empty, no suntan to get

The ocean’s still calling, but I’m not getting wet

It’s much too chilly to hang out, on the beach

The warmer days are gone, they’re all out of reach

And the breeze off the water, is icy and cold

How dare you, dear autumn, must you be so bold?

No boats on the water, no seagulls flying high

Down at the shore, I watched summer flying by

Tumultuous, the clouds as they sigh,

Gray, like days, they go drifting by

Black, as a moonless, starless night,

Water from my eyes, blurs my sight

Cascading down, perhaps in vain

Are they my tears or just the rain?
