Light blazes across the night
As God awakens the skies
Another soul makes its journey
Upward toward peace
And the clouds gather and weep
For those left behind

Come lie with me
Among the wildflowers
Fragrant with the promise
Of mornings first light
Come lie with me
As sunlight dances upon us
Under skies of blue
And faceless clouds
Come lie with me
Amidst the moonlit shadows
Gently caressing the night
A fantasy of stars
Dancing in the heavens
Come lie with me
And dream
Of yesterdays and wildflowers
Of sunlight and clouds
Of moonlight and stars
And tomorrows yet to come

His anger
A burning rage
A self-inflicted wound
Nights pass without comfort
The explosions of bitterness
Erupt into delusion
The madness shutters his thoughts
Pushing him
An empty heart
Pushing back
Until it no longer fights
A vacant chamber
Of violence and resentment
An endless spasm
Until the nightmare is over
Until the battle is done

An old man rocks gently
Lost in his thoughts
In his own little world
An old woman sits next to him
Rocking gently in time
Her hand on his
Lost in her thoughts
In her own little world
They startle
And stare at each other
Wondering who it is
Staring back
They smile
For a mere second the memory is there
And they rock, hand in hand
In their own little world

I do not understand
Why time passes by
Yet stands still
Why a moment can be fleeting
Yet we are caught in it
Why we hate to love
Yet love to hate
Is it that we are
Afraid of feeling the heartache
Of time gone by
But unafraid of causing the heartbreak
Without a moment’s loss
Afraid of defining our own worth
Within ourselves
But unafraid to define others inadequacies
As they stand before us
How can you say you are living a life
For the moments, the time
The love and the hate
The heartache and the heartbreak
Yet claim to have no life worth living
I do not understand
