Azure skies reflect in crystal waters, flanked by green grasses, and what were once the vibrant colors of the leaves. They’re faded now, turned to brown, but the colors still remain vivid in my eyes. Here is where I find a sense of peacefulness, a calm like no other, reaching through to my soul, a serenity in nature, held captive on this Earth. I walk softly, for fear I’ll disturb the silence that breathes here.

Stopping, I find myself sitting down on the banks, under the trees, feeling the cool breezes of the near-ending season, and I take note that winter is fast approaching, pulling the collar of my sweater closer to my face. How I wish I could bottle this incredible feeling. But alas, I cannot, so I must make good with the time she remains with me, and patiently wait for her to return from her lengthy respite.

And I shall remain here, long into the day, soaking in her beauty, for I do not yet wish to bid autumn adieu…

Light
Across
Barren lands
Empty branches
Reaching for the sky
Morning rises to meet
Its white puffy clouds, afloat
Softening the signs of sadness
Tethered here on this desolate earth
For which, I fear, there is no other choice

I wasn’t able to participate in Sue’s #writephoto – Glimmer – last week, but the picture was too beautiful to pass up.  Better late than never!  🙂

Tis but a glimmer

Of light that shines below me

Ah but the night calls

In a glowing masterpiece

Painted by the setting sun

No Longer in the Dark ~ #writephoto

Sue has graced us with another fabulous photo!  The subject this week is “Dark“.

Twilight begins, as clouds fill with the last light of day, shining through darkening skies. Crepuscular rays gleam, casting shadows on the colorless mountains below. I blink, hoping to find the colors I remembered just moments ago, only to find gray. It’s that gray that dims everything it touches. But I look beyond the dull and dreary, and my soul sighs, contented. I have found that glimmer of light, shining down on me, no longer kept hidden in the dark.

This is my first attempt at Sue Vincent’s Photo Prompt.  Every Thursday, Sue posts one of her pictures, and asks you to write based on your perception of the photo.  For more info, visit Sue’s blog.

A single light, one which shines ever so brightly, graces the heavens and earth, with a single spark. She illuminates the passing of the day, while readying the oceans for the evening tides. Crepuscular rays, emitted strategically over mountains, add to the aura of her beauty. White clouds, sailing peacefully across the water, remind me of a soft comfy blanket, waiting patiently to tuck me in. All is perfect in my world, as I breathe in the closing of today, and drift into the dreams of tomorrow.
