Night turns to day
And day into night
Trying hard to hold on
With all of my might

A rope burns my hand
And I’m starting to slip
Sweat from my palms
Makes it harder to grip

The reality of all
I have fought to forget
Though darkness creeps in
There’s no time for regret

Trying hard to hold on
With all of my might
Yet, I’m slipping away
I’m not able to fight

The demons that kept me
And haunted my soul
I’ve lost who I am
Evil’s taken its toll

I’m so excited to share the cover of my first chapbook, due out May 1 (God willing)!  It is a photograph of the moon I took last year and fit the theme perfectly.

Back Cover: “Rendezvous with the moon, drift among the stars and find yourself lost in the night skies. Author Dorinda Duclos, takes you on a journey through the night, visualizing dreams that let you become one with the universe. Early morning hours

Linger for an eternity

In ebony light

Dried up, depleted

I, like a wilted rose

On the yellowed page

Fell crumbled, defeated

And you left me that way

I am weary

Growing tired of the day

Awaiting, the night

Longing

For darkness, the Milky Way

My mind, emptying

Of daily matters

Weighing on my heart

My thoughts, scatter

And yet, I am alive

Wishing on the stars

Gathering the light

It awakens me

Ebony splendor

Surrounding my soul

Taking me places

Tis where I am whole
