The glare of the streetlights
Blind the beauty from my sight
Taken away, the softness
Shadowed by the night
Filtered through a glass wall
Harsh, a flame to forestall
Taken away, the splendor of
Vibrant colors, autumn’s call

She shines with a brilliance
Even night cannot tame
Solar Beauty
The light of the sky
As darkening clouds cover
You can still see her flame
Solar Beauty
In the heaven’s up high
And her radiance fills the last of day
Allowing evening to stake his claim
With a defining whisper she bids us adieu

In a breathless sigh

The night broke
As daylight faded
Behind the shadows
Of yesterday’s warmth
Stars awakened
With a twinkle
Like eyes winking
The promise of more
Yet I wonder
As I close my eyes
Will they diminish
Fizzle away, die
Would this be the end
Of light guiding darkness
Or the beginning
Of darkness coveting day
And I open my eyes
