The sky tells its story
It speaks of light in the dark
Though storm clouds chase the day away
The heavens leave their mark
Reminding me, this too, shall pass
The light will return again
This is the hope I cling to
While I listen to the rain

Lines across his face foretell, forgotten times, he knew so well
Shadowed visions haunt his skin, faded, buried deep within
A darkened mind, lost in space, the shredded features of his face
Flashing by like meteors, reaching down into his core
Celestial ebony, blackness of night, knowing he’d never again see the light
Shining, in an unforeseen glow, sightless, he fights, as the memories flow

Whimsical shadows that play in the light
Taunting and teasing you every night
Hiding in corners, they fill you with dread
You’re starting to wonder, is this in your head?
Or are they just playing, these spirits so dark?
Choosing to haunt, on a whim, on a lark
Then disappearing from view, once again
Wondering if they’ll return and when
Lying awake, with the night, you’re attune
Waiting, for shadows, in the light of the moon

It’s hollow in the darkness
Where thoughts and fears collide
The rapid beating of my heart
That tears me up inside
Can you hear my silent cries?
Soft whispers in the night
Do you hear me calling you?
When things don’t go just right
Don’t leave me here, alone,
Again, I cannot face the day
These battles, much too hard to win
My body, worn and frayed
Answers to my questions
Left lingering in air
I’m asking for your comfort, please!
Just let me know you’re there
A sign to reassure me
Everything will be alright
It’s hollow in this darkness
I need to see your light
