Sweet Nectar

Melancholy skies fill
A tantalizing serum
showers down upon
the inflorescence of life
And we blossom
as we drink in
the sweet nectar
quenching a thirst

One Color

 We are all one color
There is no difference
Between black & white
Yellow or red, blue or gold
We all fit within
The spectrum called life

We will never live
In unity
Until we remove the
Shades that block our eyes
And view the world
As it is
One color….Human

Taken For Granted

Taken for granted
The ins and outs
The day to day

Never really stopping
To be thankful, grateful
For all that is given

Focusing only on
What’s taken away
Hoping tomorrow
Holds brighter paths
Cursing the day
When it does not

Eventually realizing
It’s up to you
To change the scope
Of things yet to come

The Clock

We are clocks
All of us timed
Not really knowing if
We are early or late

We wind our lives
Around minutes
Instead of moments
Always in a hurry

Eventually, our batteries
Run out, our electric cord
Unplugged
And we realize
It’s too late to recharge

Stop looking at your watch
Instead watch what you’re looking at
Take in all the beauty
For we are never promised
Another day….

Ever Wonder

Ever wonder
if we’ll wake up tomorrow
To find the blue sky
a cloud of ash
nothing to see
but darkness

Ever wonder
why men must prove themselves
Their egos, getting in the way
of making it right,
of filling the world
with pride…hope

Ever wonder
what will become
Of a nation
that keeps pushing God out
of schools, of work places, of life

Ever wonder
If we’ll just wake up.
