Tonight’s quarter moon, through the trees, in my backyard.

Celestial light, so golden, in the night

You shine brilliantly, our summer light

With Jupiter to our left, ashimmer

And Venus to our right, aglimmer

The skies, filled, with worlds, unknown

You guide us to them, from your throne

Author’s Note:  Tonight’s sky is quite the story teller!  To the left of the moon is Jupiter, to the lower right is the star Spica and lower still is Venus, and above is the star Arcturus!  I hope you get a chance to see them all  🙂

A different white light, in a star filled sky

Illuminated by night, as it drifts on by

A glow in the dark, shining down upon us

Leaving its mark, soon disappears, and thus

Hides the greatness, of Jupiter’s might

Til it shines in the lateness, again, ever bright

A Hiss and a Bang ~ #poetry #AprilWriting

Seems Jupiter hadn’t learned his lesson
Decided Venus was worth the bliss
Made his way toward her space
Got a smack in the face
Lost a moon, all he does now is hiss

Mother Earth watched it all and she’d had it
Remember, she had given Jupiter the boot
Once again, with a bang
He lost, to a gang
Of women, now isn’t that a hoot!

You can read about Jupiter’s encounter with Mother Earth HERE

Jupiter decided to take over Earth
A much larger planet was he
So he jumped over Mars
Left behind many stars
Claiming this would be Earth’s apogee

Earth just smiled, as she waited
Tempted Jupiter to take his shot
Sent him off, quite impaired
Turned around and declared
It would seem that size matters not!
