In Limbo ~ 50 Word Story

I died last night. Much like the wilted petals of an old bouquet of roses, I crumbled. My spirit lingered, then disappeared into the mist, and scattered my soul. Floating in limbo, I reached out, seeking those I remembered, and found myself lost, with those I had long since forgotten.

Nothing has changed

Lingering in the corners

Like balls of dust

Memories

Clinging, unwilling to let go

For fear they’ll get sucked

Into a vacuous world

And so, they remain

As shadows, lurking about

The reminders, hanging,

Strangling at times, until

You finally release them

And let them fly, pieces

Dispersed into air, parts of

You, filtered, floating,

Particles

Easily passed through

Painfully left behind,

Long since forgotten

Through the mists of time,

Spirits gather and recall

Days long forgotten,

Not remembering at all

Shadows upon the river bank,

That no one else can see

Together, they stand,

Blending in,

For all eternity

If you look closely enough, you’ll see them lined up along the river…. or do you?

Famously Unknown

I write to spill my dreams
Upon the blank pages of life
I write to tell my stories
To release an inner strife
I write to open up my heart
And let the love shine through
I write with mixed emotions
When I don’t know what to do

I prefer to be in the quiet
Tranquility soothes my bones
I close off all the outside noise
I like to write alone
I pretend to be an actress
I play a part with words
Some can relate quite easily
While others find it absurd

Yet I am still a wordsmith
My thoughts I share aloud
Acting out a roll rehearsed
And playing to the crowd
To those who hear, I speak my mind
The words I recite, intone
In hopes one day you’ll remember me
When I’m famously unknown

Shadows of Yesterdays
Long ago Forgotten
Lost Friends, Lost Loves
Tucked away Unblossomed

Mirrors Reflected
Scenes left Unfinished
Moments in Time
Now forever Diminished

The Past in the Background
Still the Hurt fills your Chest
As the Memories Linger
A Heart filled with Unrest
