I am not all I seem to be
Come closer and look
Tell me
What do you see?

Fire becomes
The air that I breathe
No longer human
I fight to sheathe

The changeling inside me
This indelicate being
Who has taken my soul
Forever unfreeing

Locked deep within
My heart now a flame
This battle she’s won
I can no longer reclaim

The life I once lived
No place, no name
The dragon has spoken
I’m the end of her game

Tis moonrise, my pet

Find courage, in its light

Glide, among the stars

Become one, with the night

Never fear the darkness

It’s time to spread your wings

Imagine how your heart will soar

Amidst extraordinary things

I myself have journeyed

Where now I set you free

Fly, my dearest dragon

The world, is yours, to see

Stories told, of dragons, bold
They terrorize and maim
Fire breathing, ever seething
My dragon’s not the same

He comforts me, can’t you see
I hold his hand in mine
Always caring, heart felt sharing
He makes me feel just fine

Never judge, or begrudge
He really is a dream
Calm and free, next to me
My dragon reigns supreme

What is that, my little friend?

Does it shine within the light?

Why it’s a gem of brilliance

Sparkling, pure and bright

Just like the ones around me

I will add this to my treasure

And add you, too, yes indeed

That surely is my pleasure

You’ll collect the finest baubles

Ones scattered through the land

And I will keep them, here with me

Just like I’ve always planned
