Colleen’s challenge for us this week are the words Cold and Storm.  Remember, you can only use synonyms to write your poetry!

Written as a Nonet, my synonyms are Raw and Disturbance.

Such disturbance, I have never felt
Penetrating, my inner thoughts
Festering, this wound, bleeding
Revealing, my self-doubt
Seizing, the moment
Until at last
Defeated
I am
Raw

Atop the mighty waters

The gate to freedom floats

No need to swim up to it

No need to ride a boat

Fear not the glow before you

Nor the disturbance that lingers behind

Lighting your way through the darkness

In an altered state of mind

Simply walk among the ripples

I promise, it’s not too deep

For once you pass through

(watch your step, could be steep)

There’s no more you can do

Take the plunge, into eternal sleep

green-1757807_960_720He caught me

I was trying to hide it. The wee hours had their hold on me, again. Every night the same routine, except tonight. He caught me. The glare of the back light made it impossible to shield what I was doing. I thought I was rather quiet, but it didn’t matter.

Sound or no, he just waited for me to notice him. I did, but refused to acknowledge his stare. Ignoring something or someone is easy enough, until of course, the daggers being thrown in your direction eventually hit their target. Okay, okay, I get it.

I’m disturbing him. I could shade it with my hands. I could stop altogether but that’s not an option. No, I’ll just keep ignoring, he’ll just keep glaring, and then the battery died. I needed to plug my phone in. He smiled and rolled over.  Damn, he wins every time.
