Daydreaming, thoughts, only of you

While sunlight comes, streaming through

The trees in the glen, where I hide away

And sit here, just wishing, for yesterday

This was our place, to make memories last

Now, it’s my place, of memories, past

I come here to listen, be one with the breeze

Sadness has claimed me, as time didn’t freeze

The moments we had, they’re no longer here

But you’ll stay in my heart, always, my dear

So, I’ll let the sun shine, let it warm my face

As I quietly sit, in this now sacred place

Because, I know, one day, together we’ll be

Until then, I’ll be waiting, right here, for thee

She covers her face, weeps into her hand

Leaning against barren stretches of sand

And the trees behind her, though silent and still

Offer no shelter from the penetrating chill

She is forlorn and helpless, no hope to be found

Marked by the cross, that lies in the ground

A lover departed, she longs for his touch

And he reaches for her, with the wind’s gentle rush

Wondering Why (The Life of a Hibiscus) – #poetry

For Steve…

How can I be so beautiful?

Then disappear before your eyes

I’m here today, then off I go

I know you’ve wondered why

Perhaps it’s meant to happen

Paving the way, for another bloom

Upon the stalk, that holds me up

Perchance, it needs more room

Though I am here to dazzle, it seems

For merely a day or two

My time here, is a short one

So I’ve blossomed, just for you

They never knew, from where it came

Its fire blazed, remained untamed

Wheels that spun on rails of steel

Created madness, endless zeal

The Devil’s locomotive roared

As flames, under and over, soared

Left a trail of smoke and ash

An acrid smell, from evil’s clash

Of brethren lives, taken, in vain

To ride, forever, this demon train

Thank you, Paul Lenzi… RIP dear friend

For all who have not heard, the poetry community lost an incredible man yesterday.

His son writes, “It is with deep regret that I have to announce the sudden passing of my father Paul Lenzi. He was the cornerstone of our family and will be missed dearly. He began this blog as an a creative outlet and as a way of sharing his poetry. He never imagined it would develop such a large following, and the overwhelming support he received from this community touched him deeply. On behalf of our entire family, thank you. We are proud of the legacy of words he left behind.”

Paul was a very dear friend, and an incredible human being.  He helped me when I first started sharing my poetry, always having kind words to encourage.  I am deeply saddened that I will not see his name in my inbox any longer, but I am hoping his family will keep his blog, “Poesy plus Polemics” up and running so that we may go back and reread the many wonderful words he has written.

Paul, your legacy will live on through your beautiful family and through us, as the poetry community, and especially me, will never forget you.

Sleep well, my friend.  I know God has you in his loving arms.  ❤
