Charcoal clouds envelop the sun
Still, she fights, with all her might
Determined, to keep the dark away
And let her soul burn, into the night
Twilight, refusing to allow this
Said daytime could only stay for awhile
But she would not give in to him
For she knew just how to beguile
Igniting the clouds, with a spark of fire
She made her way, through the pitch
Darkness, she enamored, with her light
As the sky she did perfectly bewitch

She dances, like a butterfly flutters
Caught on a simple breath of a breeze
Graceful as the flowers, she is blooming
Adorning meadows, she moves with ease
Soaring, like a bird in flight, she glides
Her life, a delicate balance, unbounded
Floating on the clouds, she is light as air
While trying to keep herself grounded

You disappeared, out of sight
Swallowed by the darkened sky
A sliver, you couldn’t hold your ground
Even Venus, with her brilliance
Was no match for the storm
On this clouded summer night
Author’s Note: I was able to catch a glimpse of the young moon and Venus, until the storm clouds took over, and they disappeared into the night.
