Soft as velvet, blackened night
Luminous orb through shadows bright
Full in wonder, shining bright
Mesmerize us with celestial light

Illuminate the darkened sky
As the clouds go slowly drifting by
Enticing us from way up high
You captivate and mystify

Seducing us with golden splendor
To you, alas, we must surrender
Luna, Goddess of the Moon
With you, we are at last, attune

Crescent light in yonder sky

I can only look at you, and sigh

Free to float about, in space

While I am stuck here, in this place

How I long to wander, too

Roam around the Earth, with you

Beautiful orb, arise through the night

And carry me away, with celestial light

The harmony of twinkling lights

Sing to me, their song of night

Rich melodic tones do grace

The vastness of their ebon space

Illuminate, the passing time

Celestial poetry, unwritten rhyme

Silent words, which cannot speak

For in this night, its stars, I seek

Slumber sweet o’er ocean’s bed
Wrapped in downy clouds, so light
My peaceful little sleepyhead
You are sheltered in the night

Off to dream of moon and stars
As sun sets across the way
Angels watch you from afar
In the darkened light of day

Sleep, my precious baby girl
As the birds sing their lullaby
For you are truly a fragile pearl
Luminescent, in a celestial sky

Luna, Goddess of the Moon
With you, we are at last, attune

This was Sunday night’s full moon, taken from my front porch. The clouds almost look like the face of an alien/skeleton, but I chose to romanticize it 🙂
