She picks each flower, one by one
Looking for the perfect petals to share
Gathers them under the blazing sun
To bring home, to mama, waiting there

The yellow centers, toward the light
Her fingers clasped tightly around
Bright green stalks, hold on, with might
Firmly anchored into the ground

Still, she chooses, by just a hunch
Why that particular one entrances
Together, she holds them, in a bunch
Places them in a vase, and mama dances

She loves to see her mama smile
It’s not often it happens, but then
These beauties, which always beguile
Are bringing happiness home, again

Somewhere, buried upon your dish
Is something a bit crispy, but so delish

Yet, in the center, it’s soft, warm and chewy
And what comes next, makes them quite gooey

No need for the butter, bananas will do
Add one scoop of vanilla, or maybe two

Drizzle with chocolate, drizzle some more
Imagine, now, what your mouth has in store

Delectable sweetness, together, blended
Bite after bite, they all taste so splendid

Don’t hurry through, delight in each bite
Perhaps, we should’ve made more, in hindsight

No matter, there’s always tomorrow to savor
Waffles and ice cream, and their wonderful flavor

Bright lights, all around me, blinding,

Noisy streets, surround me, reminding

There’s no place to turn to, for quiet

Never been to the city? You must try it!

Different faces, and different names

Nothing here, is ever the same

Skyscrapers towering, larger than life

Hop in a taxi cab, things looking rife

Take in a show, have a drink at a bar

Go everywhere, find something bizarre

There’s nothing like it, not here, nor there

You’ll love taking in, NYC’s Times Square

Soft pink petals blush

In the light of afternoon

When the sun reigns high

Against a deep azure sky

April blooms her prettiest

In
Green fields
Of petals
Bathed in sunlight
I wandered along
Haphazardly looking
For that one lucky clover
When a glimpse of white caught my eye
And in between a perfect feather
Tis a symbol of good luck, not for I
Twas the bird long ago, dropped his treasure
And with it the memories fell too
Floating gently down to the ground
Irretrievable stories
Seemingly forgotten
Caught upon the winds
Taken in the breeze
Where life flies
Swiftly
