“Tart of barberry, place it first
This isn’t one to quench a thirst
Careful not to catch a thorn
Lest you feel the branch’s scorn”

“All these silly spells, however did they get along this way?” Bradley pondered. He had been cleaning out his grandmother’s old trinket box when he came upon the false bottom. It’s there he found the spell.

Barberry was easy to find, and he loved a good adventure. Looking for the plumpest berry, he grabbed the branch, but alas, a thorn. The pain would not yield as Bradley sunk to the ground.

Grandmother always knows best…

In a quandary

Is not where I want to be

Alas, I am there

Authors NoteI usually take time off during the summer months, and these  particular posts (the 10PM slot), drew the short straw.  But they’ll return in September, after Labor Day. Hopefully, I’ll be able to grab a prompt here and there, as I do enjoy the words given and I appreciate the time each blogger puts into choosing the words.  🙂

She didn’t want to do it, but had no other choice

He took away her soul, he’d never claim her voice

So many wasted hours, spent in strife, discord

Too many days of bitterness, falling on her sword

Knew the time had come, to get out, make a new start

And as the final door closed, so did her broken heart

Whispers, silence in the night

Shadows, figures in the light

Footsteps, echo off the ground

Bodies, scattering around

Screaming, nothing can be heard

Blindness, filters the absurd

Evil, gathering its flock

Spirits, race against the clock

Sunlight, rising in the east

Demons end their deadly feast

One must look its best

And so it must preen itself

To find the right mate
