They cry out in anguish,

Voices never heard aloud

Yet, the weak become stronger

Braving the mighty gusts

Of unrelenting winds

Until they are strong no more

Letting go, their one last grasp slips away

And they float, down to the ground

Lingering, in those final moments

Before their souls blend with the earth

Beware of this maiden, the one fair of face

Emerald green eyes, that sparkle with grace

Lips palest pink, they’re meant only for him

Still, she’ll blow you a kiss, cross the room, on a whim

You’ll know when she hits you, know just how it feels

When her lips touch your soul, and your heart she does steal

Picturesque autumn

A palette brushed with color

Paints the sky alive

No color to blend with the bright autumn leaves

Endlessly drifting, they move with the breeze

Carefree and easy, they float like the clouds

Playfully dancing about, through the boughs

Of life’s changing seasons, before colors do fade

This time of year, when they blend with the shade

Then slip away, like a specter, against skies of blue

Humming their melody, one we all must construe

Spirits of autumn, through the trees, they thrum

Then vanish from view, until next year comes

Insanity, the incessant need

To put pen to paper, indelible ink

Invisible, yet clearly seen

Leaving a mark, permanently

Inscribed, on blank pages

Merely, the story of our life
