A Journey of One – #poetry – #NaPoWriMo

Water ripples, through no sound is heard

She glides along water, this marvelous bird

Simple colors, her appearance is muted

To shelter from harm, for this she is suited

Paddles, well hidden, underwater, below

No little goslings, does she have, in tow

Reflections surround her, bright, in the sun

A goose, on a journey, alone, just one

When Sunlight Disappears – #poetry – #NaPoWriMo

He flies by night, through darkened skies

In search of prey, as moon does rise

Talons, hidden, tucked underneath

Eyes opened wide, he searches heath

The slightest movement, he can detect

His victim, knows no circumspect

Caught in claws, then whisked away

It shall not see the light of day

For the owl must feed his family

Hidden high above, in yonder tree

He’ll do this task, without fear

Each time the sunlight disappears

Colleen’s poetry challenge for this week is Poet’s Choice. I chose to write an Easter Shadorma.

Easter morn

With smiling faces

Kiddies seek

Their treasure

No one dares tell them the truth

It is a secret

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!! ❤

After reading an article on the coronavirus, and how family members could not see their loved ones, and how, if they passed, having a funeral was next to impossible, left me heartbroken.  I know what it is like to not be able to say goodbye.  And so, I wrote this…

By candle’s glow, I read the words
From a book, as worn can be
I’ve kept the roses he once sent
To show his love for me

Pearls, I wore around my neck
Opalescent, reflect the light
Bringing me back to memories
I now cherish, every night

Those days are gone now
His life no longer breathes
I see his face, smiling
Though I am now bereaved

The time passed by, too quickly
Oh, how so much had changed
I couldn’t say goodbye to you
Our lives were rearranged

Kept apart by a demon virus
I couldn’t even take your hand
Nor kiss your lips, one last time
I prayed you’d understand

Why I hadn’t been able to visit
I was there, in spirit, true
But it did not ease my sorrow
When you passed, alone, just you

So my dearest love, my man
I go on without you by my side
Until the day we are together
I will stay, safely locked inside…

#FridayFantasy ~ Lunar Grace – #poetry of the #moon – #NaPoWriMo

Monochromatic colors

Cover over, in the dark

Moonbeams, casting shadows

Cross the river, in the park

As I stand upon the bridge

Looking up to blackened sky

I see you watching over me

And wish that I could fly

Into your sweet tranquility

Where I can touch your face

Forgot about the world below

Find peace, in your lunar grace

This poem, and others like it, can be found in my poetry chapbook “Dark is the night“.
