After the Storm ~ #myphotography

This was once a beautiful, majestic tree in Pines Lake, (Wayne) NJ, felled by the “bombcyclone” aka winter storm Riley, we had over the weekend.  A lot of these trees are very old, and could not withstand the 60+ MPH winds that accompanied the nor’easter.

The township was out most of the day and night, trying to handle the fallen trees.  Good job!! But so very sad to see these beauties no longer standing tall   😦

And we brace for yet another storm heading our way midweek…winter’s not done with us just yet!!

Clutter ~ #poetry

Can’t find my keys, can’t find my purse

It’s getting late, it’s getting worse

Toss the papers in the air

Clutter, clutter everywhere

Under tables, on the floor

How did this become a chore?

Need to find someone to help

Where’s the dog and what’s that yelp?

The cat’s asleep upon a pile

I guess I’ll be here for awhile

The telephone’s ringing off the hook

No time to waste, no time to look

I have to leave, I’m out the door

I can’t take this anymore!

Shaken not Stirred ~ #poetry #MarchWriting

Aside from the obvious way this poem could have gone, I opted for a more relaxing definition 😉

Take one ounce of coconut rum

Add an ounce of orange liqueur

Blue curacao tops off the color

And things will soon be a blur

Don’t forget the cranberry juice

Then make sure it’s shaken, not stirred

Ice is a must for this little delight

This is where your words get slurred

Pour it into an old fashioned glass

Trust me, after a few of these

You’ll surely end up on your ass

Most definitely, on your knees

This is actually the recipe for a drink named Purple Nurple 😀

Hold on Tight ~ #poetry #MarchWriting

Oh how I wish this wind would stop!

Leaves flying about, high in the air

My balloons, try to take me, please don’t pop!

I could wind up anywhere!

Streaks from the sky, a sunbeam escapes

It’s so annoying, the constant glare

I keep moving, back and forth I traipse

But the sun doesn’t really care

I guess I’ll have to hold on tight

Let the winds take me where they will

Drink in the sun until it is night

Then I’ll complain about the chill

Inside the Pain ~ searching for understanding

Tags

It sucks to live inside this pain
I wish it would go away
No clue as how tomorrow will be
I live with this, day to day

It’s silent, so you can’t see it
Trust me, it’s there, how I know!
Please understand what I’m saying
This is something I’ll never outgrow

There’s this fire that burns inside me
A fire that will never go out
It’s been 12 long years of questions
And I’m still not sure, what it’s about

Depression’s a very big part of it
It’s hard to be happy, you see
But I try my best to wear a smile
So people will see only me

I’ve often wondered why
God chose me to take on this fight
I’m sure he had a good reason
Though what it is, is not black and white

I battle each day to move forward
Trying hard not to let it get me down
Sleepless nights always follow me
The sandman, perhaps, has left town

I’m in no way looking for pity
It would never describe who I am
Just consider what lives inside of me
And for God’s sake, give a damn

Don’t go off, talking, behind my back
I’m not lazy, it hurts just to move
Think twice before you judge me
You see, to you, I have nothing to prove

Only to myself, do I answer
And to my Lord, who I endlessly trust
Take time to understand, I’m human, too
Being cruel just makes you unjust

I will continue to fight this battle
I refuse to throw down my sword
If I can make one person understand
That would be more than any reward
