I walked upon a crooked path,

Along a winding road

Across the way I spied,

A very odd looking toad

He stared at me as I went by,

I’m sure I heard him grumble,

“These humans have no grace at all”,

As I begin to stumble

Surely, he had no way of knowing,

I would trip and fall

Loudly, he laughed, as he looked at me,

Imagine the nerve! What gall!

I righted myself, and bid him good day,

Again, I heard him croak

“These people”, he said rather gruffly,

“Are really quite the joke.”

How rude, I thought, as I walked on,

Just who does he think he is?

Croaking again, he snidely replied,

“It’s really none of your biz!”

The kettle boils, the crystal sparks
A potion, brewing, in the dark

Jack-O-Lantern, with its batty grin
Sends a chill, up the spine, within

A witch’s hat, but where is she?

Steam rising, the cauldron spits
Candles flicker, yet, there it sits

Black as night, and pointed high
Seems this spell has gone awry

Perhaps, it wasn’t meant to be!

Candles burn, as wax pours down
Still on the chair, a witch’s crown

Dare not touch it, else you’ll find
Two of us, neither of which is kind

Together, we’re one, this witch, and me
In the darkness, I’ve set my spirit free!

Standing, quietly, at the bottom of the stairs

No one ever seems to notice her there

Dress, stained with red, tells of her plight

How she had vanished, that Halloween night

No one came looking, for fear they would find

A sorceress, like her, unsettled in mind

Never was welcomed, as one of the folk

Evidenced now, by the blood on her cloak

But she knew much better, revenge in her sight

Luring them closer, with the glow of a light

Into the vastness, they’d soon disappear

Lost to mortality, imprisoned, in her sphere

I looked
But couldn’t see
Lost along the way
From nowhere
That tiny shard,
A mere splinter
Keeping the whole complete
No holes to close
Nor open wounds to mend
Still my soul
Laid bare within
Determination faltered
Ease gave up too easily
Yet, I remained intact,
An entity
Battling the demon
In my head
Refusing
To let him win
And still I wait
Waving my white flag
Pleading
For the referee
To call the fight

Wicked – #poetry #evil

So cruel the tongue, where wicked flashes

The heart, so hardened, ever clashes

Without hope, they will never see

The walk they’ve chosen, cannot be

Words that maim, and actions, sunder

Evil, the soul, who has fallen under

The spell of another, who casts its stone

Yet, stands in the darkness, quite alone

Who dares not seek the light that blinds

Remains a soul, inhuman, unkind

That lashes out, when facing facts

Then denies its harsh, ungodly acts

Placing blame, on all but they

The mind, does simply go, astray

And though you try to reel them in

They choose to live this life of sin

Where evil dwells, and cruelty reigns

Held down, and forged, in heavy chains

Ones they made, from their own hate

Unknowingly, sealing, their own fate
