I tried to hide behind this tree
And hoped that he would not see me
A hyena is no one’s friend out here
Especially for a meaty hippo, I fear
He’ll make me his dinner, I can’t have that
Maybe I should be trying to chat
With him, before he gets too close
Though he may find me quite morose
Instead, perhaps, I could explain
That I’m no feast, he should abstain
He needs more meat, for his thin frame
Go on, go find some other game!
But silly me, he couldn’t care less
And so to him, I will acquiesce
But wait! He’s leaving, yes! I’m saved
It wasn’t hippo he really craved!
