Sun does sleep, awakens, the tree
Whispering secrets meant just for me
Cradling within its spindly arms
While mesmerizing with earthly charms
Tales of the days she was merely a seed
Fighting the ground, ‘twas her only deed
Wanting so much to break free from it all
To gracefully grow, stand strong & tall
To cast a shadow, against the light
And give me a place to hide in the night
Authors Note: This photo was taken from my backdoor during a lightning storm. The effect was quite intriguing and I felt it perfect for this poem.
