Although I have not been posting, I have been writing on and off. So, once again, I embark on a challenge that I began in 2016, promising myself to never miss National Poetry Writing Month. I bring you Day One.
I grasp the air to stop it
Still it fades into darkest night
I reach up into emptiness
But I cannot grab the light
It disappears into silence
Keeps me yearning, it isn’t right
To take away all that I see
Leaving nothing in my sight
I hug myself with the memory
How it felt, and though I might
Never again feel the moment
I shall not give up the fight
So stark and cold, these days do pass
As I watch them fade through broken glass……
