Leather bound and yellowed
After all the passing years
The stories haven’t mellowed
Dog eared corners, wilted
Covered over, dusty layers
Marked, the chapters, bitter
By all the supporting players
No truths were ever spoken
White lies, against black ink
Were written by the scribblers
Who never stopped to think
