Something was missing inside this house
Sometimes noisy, it was quiet as a mouse
Perhaps they had left, gone out to play
Maybe they waited for, yet, another day
Still, the silence droned loudly in the tiny room
No one at the table, nor granny with her broom
Everything is tidy, but no one comes to see
This is where you’d always find, one big family
But times have changed, the kids all grown
Granny’s gone to a different home
The house lays still, collecting dust
The fireplace andirons, have started to rust
Where once, pure laughter filled the air
There’s no one home, there’s no one there
They’ve all gone away, and found their own place
Once a house full of love, is now one empty place

That describes the loneliness I feel although it was about a home I can relate it to me. Thank you for such a moving poem

Beautiful words to a gorgeous picture. I can feel it and I’m now missing the laughter. Great writing.

Aw, this makes me think of the places I’ve moved on from… hope someone’s still filling them up with laughter 😀
