It holds the spirit of Christmas
With its flowers, pink and white
A variegated beauty, dazzling
To warm our winter nights
Her leaves of emerald green
Snuggle up, from rooted stems
Together they decorate our holidays
And we smile, because of them
The poinsettia is a Christmas tradition
Brought here from Mexico
A tropical plant, with such elegance
Of sweetest nature, does bestow

They are lovely, but poisonous to dogs. When we lived in Florida we would plant them outside after Christmas. They grow into lovely large bushes. Nice tribute poem to threm Dorinda. ππ
